“The purpose of a system is what it does” - Stafford Beer
The current British government set-up prevents real action to tackle the climate breakdown, the cost of living crisis, or corruption because it's run for and by privileged people and vested interests.
Abolish Westminster is an investigative journalism/campaigning organisation focusing on how the current British constitutional and governmental set-up prevents real action on social justice, transparency, and the climate emergency, We tell these stories across web, email, and social media, then we run social campaigns to make real change happen on key issues.
We demand a radical rebuilding of how democracy and government function in these islands in order to put power as close to people as possible on the basis of democracy, accountability, and transparency.
Who are we?
We are Adam Ramsay, an investigative and campaigning journalist, formerly senior staff writer at the website openDemocracy and Stewart Kirkpatrick, formerly head of campaigns at 38 Degrees, head of social media at Yes Scotland, and head of impact at openDemocracy.
